College Advising

Indian Springs School’s College Advising program strives to advance the mission of the school by engaging students in a highly individualized college search.
The program inspires students to seek to understand themselves, to approach their search with curiosity and an open mind, and to cultivate the courage to make decisions about college that reflect their true needs, desires, and values.

From residential liberal arts colleges to metropolitan research universities and conservatories to institutes of technology, our students’ collegiate choices mirror their myriad talents, interests, and personalities.

As Director of College Advising, I get to know my students in order to build the trust necessary to challenge and support them as they embark on their college search and application journeys. Through a series of individual and group meetings in 11th and 12th grades, I help students identify colleges of interest, think about how and what to research, and compose applications that authentically convey their individual strengths.

Please feel free to contact me anytime you have questions or concerns relevant to college advising.

    College Advising Event for Juniors/Parents

Rescheduled for Thursday, January 31st at 7 p.m. in the Theater from January 16th. Because there are basketball games that night, we will be recording the event to share with students/families who cannot attend and with boarding parents.
Our guests will be Kirk Kluver, Director of Admissions at the University of Iowa, and Tara Nelan, Regional Director of Admissions for Muhlenberg College. After a quick introduction, we'll have a panel-style conversation about trends in admissions, considerations regarding different sizes and types of colleges, and advice for students and parents as they head into the college search. We'll also take time to address your questions. This is a GREAT opportunity to talk to people who know college admissions inside and out!
Since we have had to move the date, this is not a required event, but we do strongly encourage 11th graders and their parents to attend as this will be incredibly helpful information. Please RSVP if you plan to attend (only 1 RSVP needed per family), and feel free to contact Amelia Johnson or Jan Fortson in College Advising with any questions.
