Moriya Wins Three Gold Medals at Tae Kwon Do Tournament

Kiam Ronan Moriya '19 earned gold medals in form, board breaking, and sparring at Master Shim's 11th Annual World Class Open Championship regional Tae Kwon Do tournament held April 29 in Atlanta.
 
Moriya competed in his age class in standard competition for form and board breaking and in the advanced level (Olympic preparatory level) of electronic world-class sparring for his age and weight class.
 
Moriya, who began studying Tae Kwon Do at age 7, has worked three days a week continuously since age 14 and has served as an instructor at Master Scarsella's World Class Tae Kwon Do in the Birmingham area since summer 2015. 
 
In October 2015, he was chosen by Master Scarsella as one of three students/instructors to attend a Sport Olympic Tae Kwon Do training weekend with Olympic Coach and Olympian Juan Moreno.
