Scholars Bowl Team Takes 2nd at LAMP Invitational

Springs' Scholars Bowl team won second place in the 16-team High School Varsity division at the 2017 LAMP Invitational held Jan. 15 in Montgomery!

After going 6-1 in pool play with a narrow loss to Springwood, Springs defeated Sylacauga—which had previously beaten Springs in the final round of the Thompson Invitational—in the semifinal before falling to Springwood in the championship round.
 
Congratulations to teammates Peter Scalise ’18, Davis Tyler-Dudley ’17, Henry Goff ’18, Evan Brandon ’18, and Jack Markert ’19 and to Springs Scholars Bowl coaches William Blackerby ’05 and Cal Woodruff.
 
Congratulations as well to Junior Varsity teammates Evan Dunbar ’20, Mike Jiang ’20, Will Smith ’19, and Isaac Zhou ’19, who won three of five rounds against area schools at the Junior Varsity state-qualifying tournament on Jan. 12 in Gadsden.
 
The Scholars Bowl season will continue on Feb.10 with the district-level qualifying round of the state tournament.
