Pianist Team To Represent Alabama at Southern Division Competition

ISS student pianists Mira Walker ’16 and Sebastian Black ’15 will represent the state of Alabama in the Senior Piano Duet Category at the 2014-15 Southern Division Competitions hosted by the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). They will compete against teams from other Southern states on January 18 at the University of Tennessee School of Music in Knoxville.

Walker and Black were named the State Representatives for the Senior Piano Duet Category after performing at the Alabama MTNA Competitions at Auburn University in the fall. They are students, respectively, of Dr. Yakov Kasman and Tatiana Kasman of Vestavia Hills. Both students have won awards at a number of local and regional piano competitions; this is their first time to compete together.
