Four ISS Students Win Awards at State Science and Engineering Fair

Four Indian Springs School students won awards at the 2014 Alabama Science and Engineering Fair held April 3-5 at the University of Alabama in Huntsville.
 
Alice Zhang ’18 won 1st place in Mathematics (Junior Division) for her project, “Golden Ratio.” Zhang also won three additional awards, including “Best in Class” from Boeing.
 
Danna Refai ’18 earned 3rd place in Medicine (Junior Division) for her project, “Sugar Rush – Part 2.” Refai also won “Best in Class” from Boeing.
 
Tara Markert ’14 received 3rd place in Medicine (Senior Division) for her project, ““Cytochrome C Oxidase in Malignant Glioma.” Markert, who won 1st place at the Central Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair in March, will advance to the INTEL International Science and Engineering Fair in Los Angeles in May.
 
Bela Patel ’18 received an Honorable Mention in Engineering (Junior Division) for her project, “The Human Antenna.”
 
More than 200 junior high and high school students competed at the state level. Congratulations to all four ISS winners!
