ISS Spanish Teacher George Mange Wins Teaching Award

ISS Spanish Teacher George Mange has won the 2013 Outstanding K-12 Teacher Award from the Alabama Association of Foreign Language Teachers.

The award is a tribute to the quality of Mange's teaching and his passion for promoting foreign languages, says Melinda Sears, 2nd Vice President of the AAFLT. The son of two teachers, Mange majored in Spanish and minored in Latin American Studies at Birmingham-Southern College. He has also served as a Spanish Language Scholar for WILD (Weekend Immersed in Language Development), an annual, three-day camp for high school students funded jointly by AAFLT and The Humanities Foundation.

“He creates a learning environment that encourages positive social interactions, active engagement in learning, self-motivation, and clearly communicated expectations,” says Sears.

¡Muchas felicidades, señor Mange!
