Fox, Shallcross Win National Merit Awards

Two Springs graduating seniors have been offered the prestigious National Merit Scholarship Award, the National Merit Scholarship Corporation announced May 23.

Leah Fox ’12 and Isabelle Shallcross ’12 are among 1.5 million students who entered the 2012 competition for the award by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test (PSAT/NMSQT) during their junior year.

Of those 1.5 million entrants, only 8,300 of the highest-scoring individuals were offered the scholarships. In addition to PSAT/NMQT performance, the scholarship recipients were chosen based on their academic skills and achievements, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success in college studies.

Fox will be attending Tulane University and Shallcross will be attending Middlebury College this fall. Congratulations to both of them!
