ISS Biology Teacher Bob Pollard was a finalist in the Green Educator of the Year category. A biology teacher at ISS for 11 years, he has been instrumental in starting the Fertile Minds Learning Garden, the school’s organic garden and outdoor learning laboratory.
Pollard has also encouraged green living among his students, teaching them to build wind generators and solar panels and convert vegetable oil from the ISS dining hall to biodiesel fuel for school vehicles. He has also taken students on international trips to study rainforest and coral reef ecology and natural history.
