In Memoriam - Calvin 'Cal' Jones III '61

Cal passed away from heart complications at his home in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., on November 29. He died peacefully with his wife, Patricia Kimbrough Jones, and his son, Calvin Jones IV, by his side. He was preceded in death by his parents, Elizabeth Cardwell Jones and Calvin Jones, Jr., and is survived by his brother, Joseph Cardwell Jones of Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.

Cal was a Birmingham native and a National Science Foundation Honoree at Springs. After graduating from Vanderbilt University and completing a master's degree in electrical engineering, he pursued a 30-year career as the Senior Computer Consultant for Eglin Air Force Base in Fort Walton Beach. He served as Commodore of both the Fort Walton Yacht Club and the Gulf Yachting Association and was a certified U.S. Sailing judge, where he worked diligently to help make sailing a better sport.
