Meet Our New Faculty and Staff

New Faculty

Leslie Hurt joins the science department to teach chemistry and anatomy and physiology. Leslie holds a Bachelor’s in Integrative Physiology from the University of Colorado at Boulder and a Master’s in Science Education from Loyola University at Chicago. Leslie spent five years teaching science in Chicago public schools, including working in a gifted center, and she also worked multiple years in biomechanics research labs. Most recently, Leslie taught AP Chemistry and AP Research at John Carroll Catholic High School in Birmingham. 

New Staff

Jordan Brooks joins the admission team as our new admission associate. Jordan has a Bachelor’s in Sports Management from the University of North Alabama, where he was a two-year starter and captain of the football team. He previously worked in the Shelby County school system and most recently served as assistant director of athletic communications at the University of Montevallo.

John Fahey joins Indian Springs as the new director of residential life. John holds a Bachelor’s in Sports Management from Endicott College. He spent 20 years at Brooks School, a boarding school in the Boston area, as associate director of athletics, baseball coach, and dorm head. John worked for nine years at Camp Cedar in Maine, an overnight boy's summer sports camp, where he was head of baseball and a head counselor. He most recently served as assistant director of the boarding program at Sandy Spring Friends School in Maryland. 

Kevin Bates joins our maintenance staff as a maintenance technician.

Mason Taylor joins our custodial staff and will work in the evenings. 

Cody Wood joins our grounds team as our new grounds associate. Cody previously worked as a farmer, a journeyman plumber/gasfitter, and a lawn care aerator. He also has experience in construction and the wildlife, hunting, and fishing industry. Cody will help to maintain the grounds of our 350-acre campus. 

New Roles

Christine Copeland joins our academic team as the academic center coordinator after previously serving Indian Springs in admission and enrollment for the past 16 years.

Mandy Griffin, current dorm parent and former director of residential life, joins our admission team as the admission assistant.

Dr. Jonathan Gray, previously the dean of academics, assumes the role of assistant head of school for academic affairs.

Weslie Wald, previously dean of students for grades 11-12, will serve as the dean of faculty.

Hunter Wolfe, previously dean of students for grades 8-10, will serve as dean of students (all grades).

Tanya Yeager, who leads the school’s business office and operations, is now assistant head of school for finance and operations.

Returning Roles

Dr. Colin Davis is back in the classroom in our history department after a one-year sabbatical.
 
Dr. Jonathan Horn ’75 returns as a French teacher in our modern & classical languages department after retirement in 2021.
