Kimely Li ’23 Wins District Art Competition

Kimely Li ’23 was awarded first place in the high school, drawing division of district 4B at the 2022 Visual Arts Achievement Awards. Her drawing, “Cherish,” was on display in an exhibit hosted by the University of Montevallo in March. She advances to the state competition in Montgomery held in April.

Sponsored by the Alabama State Council on the Arts, the Visual Arts Achievement Program provides local and state recognition for student achievement in the visual arts. The program is designed to offer encouragement to young artists, showcase their work, and offer opportunities for advanced training beyond high school. Entries are divided into eight different categories based on medium: computer image, craft, digital/photography, drawing, mixed-media, painting, printmaking, and sculpture.

Congratulations to Kimely and art teacher, Clay Colvin ’95!
