Springs Seniors Create Cover Shot for Birmingham Fashion Magazine

Springs seniors Matti Rose Lawrence ‘19 and Molly Webb ‘19 teamed up to create the cover photo for the latest issue of Birmingham’s fashion magazine, Belladonna.

The issue, entitled “Gold Soul,” is a tribute to bold women. The cover was unveiled on Thursday, Sept. 27,  at a Gold Party held in the Thomas Jefferson Tower Ballroom.

Editor-in-chief Maacah Davis acknowledged Molly’s work as creative director and Matti Rose’s skill as photographer for the cover shot. Molly, who is interning at the magazine, and Matti Rose, who has studied photography at Indian Springs since ninth grade, applied gold leaf foil to the model and used backlighting to achieve the effects in the photo, which was shot in Springs’ photography studio.

Indian Springs photography teacher Michael Sheehan commended the students for their artistry.

“Matti Rose has embraced the studio philosophy of envisioning the final product in one's mind, then using creative lighting applications to have her vision come to fruition,” says Indian Springs photography teacher Michael Sheehan. “She understands the benefits of having complete control in the studio, incorporating an ‘all is possible’ attitude into her thinking. It also makes sense that Molly contributed to the artistic direction—she has been an incredible model for numerous photo shoots while she has been at Indian Springs School.”

Congratulations to both students!
