Dr. Jonathan Gray

Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs
Dr. Jonathan Gray joined the faculty of Indian Springs in 2016 as a Mathematics instructor and served as the chair of the Mathematics Department during the 2019–2020 academic year. Prior to joining the faculty of Indian Springs, he taught in middle and high schools and universities in Tennessee, Texas, Pennsylvania, and Alabama. Jonathan received his Ph.D. in Mathematics from the University of Tennessee with a research specialization in geometric group theory and group cohomology. A passionate educator, Jonathan has been recognized for excellence in graduate school teaching, has received a National Science Foundation Grant, and is a member of Phi Beta Kappa. In addition to teaching, Jonathan has served on the Children’s Committee for the Future, the Junior Board for Children’s Hospital of Alabama. As the Assistant Head of School for Academic Affairs, he ensures the academic progress of our students through school-wide curriculum development and independent study programs that allow students to learn according to their own abilities, interests, and needs. In his free time, he is a passionate runner, chef, and mandolin player.
