Three Students Awarded by National Merit Scholarship Program

Indian Springs School is proud to announce that three exceptional students from the Class of 2025 have been recognized as National Merit Scholars and National Merit Corporate-sponsored Scholars by the National Merit Scholarship Program.

Evie Frohsin ’25, National Merit Corporate-sponsored Scholar (Ascension)
Max Lizee ’25, National Merit Scholar
Samuel White ’25, National Merit Scholar

Evie, Max, and Samuel were among the twelve Indian Springs seniors named 2025 National Merit Finalists selected by a committee of college admissions officers and high school counselors based on academic records, standardized test scores, contributions and leadership skills, community activities, a personal essay, and a letter of recommendation. Scholarship winners are candidates judged to have the most robust combination of academic skills and achievements, extracurricular accomplishments, and potential for success in rigorous college studies.

Approximately 6,930 National Merit Scholarship winners will be chosen this year from a group of around 15,000 distinguished Finalists. Evie was announced in the first group of National Merit Scholarship winners as one of approximately 830 Finalists to be awarded a corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarship. Max and Samuel were among the second group to be announced: the 2,500 Finalists who were named National Merit Scholars. Max and Samuel will each receive a $2,500 scholarship to be used at the college of their choice. Later this summer, an additional 3,600 Finalists will be announced as college-sponsored scholarship winners financed by U.S. colleges and universities from among those who elected to attend their institution.

Information supplied by Finalists on their National Merit Scholarship Applications is used to identify a pool of eligible candidates for corporate-sponsored awards. NMSC’s professional staff will choose almost all scholarship recipients. Corporate-sponsored scholarships are financed by 124 corporations, company foundations, and business organizations and are awarded to finalists who are children of their employees, residents of the communities they serve, or those who plan to pursue college majors or careers the sponsor is encouraging. Most awards are renewable for up to four years of undergraduate college study and provide annual stipends ranging from $1,000 to $10,000 per year, while others offer a single payment between $2,500 and $5,000 per year.

Congratulations Evie, Max, and Samuel!
