Dr. Matt Gorum

Director of Strategic Communications
Dr. Matt Gorum joined Indian Springs as director of strategic communications in 2025. Prior to joining Indian Springs, Matt worked at the National Center on Health, Physical Activity and Disability (NCHPAD), a CDC-funded center at UAB, where he oversaw the development and implementation of NCHPAD’s communications functions. In addition to NCHPAD, Matt has served in various internal and external communications roles, developing and executing organic and paid marketing strategies, managing and refining employee communications, and writing and editing for various audiences. Before working in communications, Matt taught writing and literature on the junior high, high school, and college level for close to a decade. Matt holds a doctorate in American literature from the University of Kentucky, a master’s degree in secondary language arts education from Troy University, and a bachelor’s degree in English and cultural and religious studies from Huntingdon College. He lives in Homewood, Alabama, with his wife and two sons.
