Scholastic Silver Medalists!

Congratulations to seniors Mira Walker ’16 and Julia Fleisig ‘16, who have received national Silver Medals in the 2016 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards!

Both students have won for personal essays that earned Gold Keys at the regional level. As national medalists, their work is considered to be in the top 1 percent of the 320,000 works of art and writing submitted to the competition from around the world.

Walker’s essay is entitled “Composing a Pianist,” and Fleisig’s essay, “L’Chaim, L’Chaim, to Life!”

“I am continually impressed with the creativity of Springs students and with the voices that come through on the page,” says Latin and English teacher Douglas Ray. “Congratulations to our national medalists and to their fellow Writers’ Workshop members who helped them hone these pieces.”

Please join us at 10:15 a.m. on Tuesday, April 19, in the John Badham Theater as a number of Springs’ student writers read from their award-winning works!
