Five Students Awarded at Regional Science Fair

Five Indian Springs students received awards at the 2024 Central Alabama Regional Science & Engineering Fair, which was held on Saturday, March 2, on the campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham. 

Ibrahim Hamo ’25 and Erik Ledvina ’25 — Second Place, Biology
Project Title: “Variation in Radula Morphology Within a Snail Species”

Radyn Moradkhani ’25 — Second Place, Environmental and Earth Science
Project Title: “Predicting Mental and Physical Health Impacts from Prolonged Drought and Air Pollution with Machine Learning”
 
Tuan Tran ’26 — Second Place, Mathematics and Computer Science
Project Title: “Chronic Inflammation to Carcinogenesis: Unravelling Key Genes and Therapeutic Targets in Ulcerative Colitis and Small Intestinal Neuroendocrine Tumors”

Max Lizee ’25 — Third Place, Environmental and Earth Science
Project Title: “Using Machine Learning to Predict Sanitary Sewer Overflows”

Congratulations and best of luck to all of our students who, by placing in the top three of their respective categories, will advance to the Alabama Science & Engineering Fair at Auburn University on April 13.
