• Placement Tests

  In order to make sure all newly enrolled students are placed in the appropriate level math and language classes, Indian Springs will have students take placement tests. These tests do not affect students’ standing with the school. Rather, they ensure students begin the year in the classes most suitable to their current math and language skill levels.
  
  All students who attend Indian Springs School are required to complete three years in a single language during grades 9-12. All 8th-grade students are required to take a language. Indian Springs offers Chinese, French, Latin, and Spanish. The standard course progression in Mathematics is Prealgebra, Algebra I, Geometry, Algebra II, Precalculus, and Calculus.
  
  If a student plans to enroll in Prealgebra or the first level of a language, they are not required to take the respective placement test.
  
  Day Students:
  
  Math and language placement tests will be conducted on Sunday, April 21, 2024, from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. and Wednesday, April 24, 2024, from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. Parents should drop off their student(s).  We will do math for the first hour and languages for the second hour.  Students who need only one of these sessions can come for their respective hours.
  
  Please RSVP here by Monday, April 15, 2024. Please note that if your student is planning to take the language placement test, math placement test, or both, you only need to RSVP for one of the dates above (April 21 or April 24). If you have more than one student enrolling as a new student in the fall, please complete the form for each student. If your student only needs to take one of the placement tests, you can indicate this in the RSVP form.

  Boarding Students:
  
  Boarding students will be recommended for their math/language courses based on their admissions application and subsequent conversations. In addition, boarding students will have the opportunity to take a placement test prior to the start of classes to help confirm their initial placement.

• Boarding Student Information

  The Indian Springs Admission and Residential Life Offices look forward to making your family’s transition to Indian Springs as smooth as possible.
  
  Visas: If your child will require an F1 visa to attend Indian Springs and you have not already, please send a copy of your child’s passport and a copy of your bank statement to our Assistant Director of Admission for Boarding Enrollment Mike Rowlett at mike.rowlett@indiansprings.org. We will then generate an I-20 document and send it to you. If your child is transferring an I-20 from another school to Indian Springs, please email Mr. Rowlett.
   
  Roommate Assignments: Students find out who their roommate(s) will be when they arrive for move-in. A form is coming soon that will help our Director of Residential Life pair you with a roommate.

  Move-In: We welcome new boarding students to campus for move-in day on Wednesday, August 7, 2024. All new students (day and boarding) will attend new student orientation on the morning of Thursday, August 8, 2024. Our residential life program will continue through the weekend. It is important all students have moved in by August 7 and are on campus for the duration of this program.
  
  Transportation from the Airport to Campus: Indian Springs School is located only 25 minutes from Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM). We highly encourage students to fly directly to BHM, as that is the most reliable way to ensure they have a ride to campus. There will be three shuttle pick-ups from BHM on move-in day (Wednesday, August 7): 10:00 a.m., 4:00 p.m., and 11:00 p.m.  

   

  There will be one shuttle pick-up from the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL) on Wednesday, August 7, departing for Indian Springs at 4:00 p.m. An adult from Indian Springs will arrive at 12:00 p.m. to receive students and prepare for the 4:00 p.m. departure. If your flight arrives in the morning and you choose not to wait until the 4:00 p.m. departure time, or if your flight arrives after the 4:00 p.m. departure time, you can arrange your own transportation to Indian Springs. One option would be to schedule a Groome Transportation Shuttle (www.groometransportation.com).
  
  Please note: All unaccompanied minors must be scheduled to fly in/out of Birmingham-Shuttlesworth International Airport (BHM). We are unable to support unaccompanied minors at the Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport (ATL). If your child is traveling as an unaccompanied minor, please contact Director of Residential Life John Fahey as soon as possible to make arrangements.

• New Student Orientation

  All new students will participate in orientation on Thursday, August 8 from 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
  
  Orientation will cover academic support, study skills, effective use of technology, how to use the school website, Indian Springs School history, student government, and a “What I Wish I’d Known” panel discussion.

• New Parent Orientation

  New parent orientations will occur on:

  A Zoom link will be sent to your email address on file closer to the dates for the new parent orientations. During these orientations, we will explore our online academic system (mySprings/Blackbaud), request classes, and discuss all of the academic elements necessary to prepare for the fall.

• New Student Email & mySprings Accounts

  All students receive an Indian Springs Gmail account when they enroll at Indian Springs School. New students need to sign in to their Gmail account and connect their Gmail account to their mySprings account before May 1, 2024. If your child enrolls after May 1, 2024, they will receive their new student email within 1-2 weeks and should sign into their account as soon as possible. 

  
  

  To log into Gmail, students should type in www.gmail.com and sign in using the email address: “firstname.lastname@indiansprings.org” or, if the student provided the admission office with a preferred name throughout the application process, the student's email address will be “preferredname.lastname@indiansprings.org.”

  
  

  A temporary password has been communicated separately via email.  If you are having difficulty accessing your account, please contact our IT Team at it@indiansprings.org.

  
  

  When the student logs in to Gmail, they should first change their password. The steps to change a Gmail password are as follows. 

  1. Click the Google account in the upper right corner of the screen. The Google account can be found by clicking on the first letter of the student’s name, which should be visible in the top right corner of the screen. 
  2. Click Manage Your Google Accounts
  3. Click Security on the left-hand side of the screen.  
  4. Click “Password” under the box “Signing Into Google.”
  5. Proceed to change your password. 
  6. After changing their password, students should go back to their Gmail account.

  
  

  mySprings/Blackbaud

  
  

  Our primary platform known as mySprings and/or Blackbaud helps inform parents and students regarding activities, classes, grades, and more. Students and parents will use mySprings to access their grades, course schedules, important forms, etc. 

  
  

  Students should log into mySprings as soon as possible to confirm they have access to mySprings. Directions on how to complete these tasks are delineated below.

   

  Students will see an email from Indian Springs School in their Gmail account with the subject line “Connect to Indian Springs School.”

  
  

  After opening this email, students should click on the button in the body of the email that says, “Accept Invitation.”

  
  

  Then, students will see a screen prompting them to sign in. Students should scroll down and click “Sign Up with Google.”

  Students should then select their Indian Springs account or click “Create Another Account” and create an account using their Indian Springs email address.

  
  

  After signing in with their Indian Springs account, students have officially connected their Gmail account to mySprings.

  
  

  To sign in to mySprings, students should follow the steps below:

  1. Go to www.indiansprings.org
  2. Click on “mySprings” in the upper right corner of the screen.
  3. Type in the student’s school Gmail address.
  4. The system will prompt the student to sign in using Google.

• New Parent mySprings Accounts

  Each new Indian Springs parent receives a mySprings/Blackbaud account; the system parents use to check their child’s grades, complete important forms, and more. The login credentials to access mySprings are in the form of a Blackbaud ID (BBID) and will take the form of a personal email address.
  
  

  You will soon find an email in the inbox (associated with your Finalsite Enrollment (formerly SchoolAdmin) account) with the subject line “Connect to Indian Springs School” from the sender “Indian Springs School.” You will be asked to accept an invitation in the body of the email. Prior to doing so, please review this helpful guide on establishing your BBID.

• Health & Wellness

  Indian Springs School’s medical forms are stored on an online healthcare management system called Magnus Health SMR (Student Medical Record). The forms in this database are only accessible to parents and appropriate employees at the school. Because this is an online system, you will have continuous access to your child’s health record as well as the ability to make updates as needed. 
  
  In order to access Magnus Health SMR in your mySprings account:
  

  1. Go to www.indiansprings.org.
  2. Click "mySprings," located in the top right corner of the homepage.
  3. Sign-in using your parent login credentials (If you have trouble logging in, please email admission@indiansprings.org).
  4. Select the Resources tab, then click Magnus Health.
  5. You will be redirected to the required medical forms.

  
  We ask that you enter the health information required within your Magnus Health SMR account for each child attending Indian Springs School no later than July 1, 2024.
  
  Timely submission of health information and other forms is vital so that preparations can be made prior to the first day of school. You will receive weekly reminders as long as there are outstanding items in your account. Please reserve 20 to 30 minutes per child, depending on their particular circumstances. Data is securely stored within Magnus Health SMR, so you will only provide updates to the record when necessary.
  
  If you encounter difficulties navigating the Magnus Health SMR, entering data online, downloading the hardcopy cover sheets and forms, or if you have any other questions, please contact Customer Support at Magnus Health SMR by phone at 877.461.6831 or by email at service@magnushealthportal.com.

• Final Transcripts

  Indian Springs School must have an official copy of your student's Final Transcript on file before the start of school on Friday, August 9, 2024. Please complete this form and submit it to the guidance counselor or school registrar so they may forward this information to Indian Springs School.

• Book Lists

  Book lists will be emailed to all students and parents in mid-to-late June 2024.

• Student Permissions, Bus Transportation, & Campus Parking

  Student Permissions: Between Monday, July 1, and the beginning of school, you will need to sign in to your mySprings/Blackbaud account as soon as possible to complete the student permissions form. Click the yellow banner at the top that says, “You have 1 form to review.” The form must be signed by the student and at least one parent.
  
  Bus Transportation: If you plan to use the school bus during the 2024-2025 school year (regularly or occasionally), please click here to complete the bus form if you did not do so during your enrollment. The bus schedule and billing information are detailed in the form. 
  
  Campus Parking: Parents will receive two family parking decals by mail. Students may pick up student parking decals from the Dean of Students office after they submit their permissions form and attend the safety meeting on the first day of school. Extra family decals will be available at the front desk. Please make sure ALL contact information is up to date in your mySprings/Blackbaud accounts.
