Residential Life

The Residential Life Team looks forward to welcoming Indian Springs boarding students back to the dorms! While we are still developing our plans and procedures for Residential Life at Springs this fall—and these plans will continue to develop throughout the coming months—the following are some of the precautions we’re implementing to keep the Springs residential community healthy. This is an overview, and boarding students and their parents can expect more thorough, specific information in the coming weeks.

  • Visitors to the school campus will continue to be limited, and will not be granted entry without prior permission.
  • Ventilation in the dorms will be upgraded with the rest of the HVAC systems on campus.
  • Cleaning standards and frequency in the dorms have been increased.
  • All students returning to the dorms will participate in quarantine/isolation before classes start.
  • Boarding Orientation will be primarily virtual.
  • For now, the dorms will be closed to visitors (including other students) and only accessible to students who live in that dorm.
  • Boarders will be encouraged to gather outdoors, with distancing, instead of in Dorm Commons.
  • Boarders will have their temperatures taken daily.
  • Boarding student sign-outs and weekend leave from the dorms will be governed by new rules to ensure the safety of roommates and hallmates.
  • Distancing, use of masks, handwashing, and new maximum occupancy guidelines will be outlined for dorm common spaces.
  • Additional hand sanitizer dispensers will be installed in the dorms.
  • Food and grocery delivery will be available to boarding students with new rules and no-touch guidelines.
  • ResLife will focus on on-campus and outdoor weekend activities.
  • Additional precautions will be taken for any necessary student trips off campus.
  • Community Dining will be replaced by new activities for the fall semester, at least.
  • Residential Life is prepared to keep the dorms open to students during school breaks this year with special guidelines for students who return home during breaks.
  • We are updating the Residential Life Handbook and the ResLife section of the Indian Springs School website with information about the 2020-21 school year.

The Dorm Parents, along with all On-Campus Faculty, are committed to caring for our boarding students. We look forward to welcoming our students back to campus and back to the dorms!
