  • Return to Play (RTP) Policy

The Governor, the Alabama State Department of Education, and the Alabama High School Athletic Association (AHSAA) agreed to allow schools to open as of June 1. In light of this decision, Indian Springs School developed a Return to Play (RTP) policy that best fits the needs of our community.

This RTP policy will allow our coaches and athletes to begin summer training sessions. Please note that all summer training sessions are optional and will not affect placement on teams.

Listed below are the forms required to attend any summer training sessions. Please complete and files these forms in DragonFly.

Athletes who participated in an AHSAA sport at Indian Springs last year need the following new forms on file:

    • 2020-2021 Consent Release Form
    • 2020-2021 Concussion Information Form
    • AHSAA deemed last year’s physical forms valid until 07/27/20

  • Guidelines for Summer Workouts

    • Athletes must arrive at the guardhouse wearing a mask before they are admitted to campus and continue to wear the mask and travel directly to the designated check-in area located in the gym parking lot.
    • Athletes must observe social distancing throughout the check-in and screening process.
    • Athletes must leave campus immediately following the completion of their training. No gathering around in the parking lots is permitted.
    • Upon arriving at the check-in table, athletes must use the hand sanitation station, sign in, answer a questionnaire, and have their temperature checked with a touchless thermometer. Any temperature reading of 99.6 degrees Fahrenheit or higher is considered a fever for testing protocols.
    • Any athlete who tests positive or displays any symptoms of COVID-19 is not permitted on campus for a 14-day period and without prior approval from Student Health Services.
    • Contact-tracing steps will proceed following any confirmed case. All participants that were in close contact will be contacted immediately and encouraged to communicate with their primary care provider.
    • Athletes should always wear a mask entering and leaving campus and when social distancing is not possible. Facial coverings are required to be on hand at all times and worn properly when not engaging in vigorous activity.
    • Athletes must provide their own water bottle(s) and avoid sharing personal items.
    • All equipment must be wiped down and cleaned (using medical-grade, EPA-registered disinfectants) after each group activity, with a dwell time of 4 minutes. Sharing equipment should be avoided when possible.
    • Masks should be worn during coach(es) talk sessions, between drills, and while standing in line.
    • Upon completion of the training session, athletes must use the hand sanitation station before leaving campus.
