Indian Spring Sports Roundup

Indian Springs athletic teams are celebrating a strong start to the spring 2018 season with many outstanding team and individual performances. Check out these highlights!

Indian Springs Baseball, coached by Scott Yeager and Kenny Mosley, opened with a tough 4-2 win over Leeds on March 8. They were down 2-0 in the game until the 6th inning, when Max Yeager '21, Ethan Thomas ’20, and Will Miller ’21 had big hits.

Indian Springs Softball, coached by Richard Thiebert and Janae Peters, had an impressive 19-11 win over BB Comer on March 8. Grace O'Malley '18 was the team powerhouse; she not only pitched seven innings, but also hit two doubles and two triples.

Indian Springs Boys Tennis, coached by Boo Mason, claimed a 6-3 victory over Altamont on March 12. Carter Gache '18, Ryan Aldaher '20, and Ian Huh '19 won singles matches, and Gache with William Grumley '18 and Krishna Josyula '19/Huh won doubles.

Indian Springs Girls Tennis, also coached by Boo Mason, defeated Chelsea 5-4 on February 20. Peyton Miller ’20, Emma Storm '19, and Clara Lapidus ’21 won singles matches, and Miller/Storm and Lapidus/Amy Li ’18 won doubles. Miller also won the Shelby County High Schools Tennis Tournament in no. one singles on March 12 after defeating players from Oak Mountain, Briarwood, and Helena.

Indian Springs Boys Golf team, coached by Greg Van Horn, opened with a 78-90 victory over Altamont. Hal Rogers '18 had the low score of the match, shooting 38 for 9 holes.

The Girls Golf team, also coached by Greg Van Horn, opened with a 156-172 win over Westminster on February 28. The strongest individual players were Katie Wiatrak ’18, Nadia Lane ’18, and Abigail Mathis ’18.

Indian Springs Boys Soccer, coached by Rik Tozzi and currently ranked number one in Alabama Class 1A-3A, defeated Springville 4-0 on March 6. Justin Chapman '18, Nicholas Bryant '18, and Hyo In Park ’19 all scored goals.

Our Girls Soccer Team, coached by Hunter Gray, claimed a 6-0 victory over Calera on February 16. Key players included Virginia Hunt '21, Ada Cohen '18, and Logan McFadden '18.
