Andy Wu ’25 Wins Big at State Science Fair

Indian Springs junior Andy Wu ’24 earned numerous honors at the 2023 Alabama Science & Engineering Fair hosted by the Auburn University Department of Sciences and Mathematics on April 1.

Andy’s project, “Machine Learning Methods: Implementation of the Classification and Diagnosis of Alzheimer’s Disease,” won first place in the senior division of the Bio-Medical Engineering category.

Additionally, Andy won the Yale Science and Engineering Association Award (sponsored by Yale University’s Science & Engineering Association), given to the most outstanding 11th-grade project in computer science, engineering, physics, or chemistry. 

He also won the Health Innovations Award (sponsored by Auburn University’s College of Nursing), recognizing a student whose research could improve human health through better disease diagnostics and/or treatments.

Andy received certificates, medals, and cash prizes totaling $350 for his achievements.
