Zykeria Dowdley ’24 Nationally Recognized for Writing

Indian Springs student Zykeria Dowdley ’24 has received a national Silver Medal in the 2023 Scholastic Art & Writing Awards for her poem “Eviction Notice.”

Zykeria’s poem was among the top .7% of all submissions in this year’s competition. Over 100,000 students from across the country, U.S. territories, and Canada submitted more than 300,000 works of art and writing. Over 40,000 received regional recognition, but only 2,000 earned national awards.

Zykeria advanced to the national competition after receiving three Gold Keys, the highest level of achievement at the regional level. Works are judged based on originality, skill, and the emergence of a personal voice.

Congratulations to Zykeria!
