Choir Scores District Best in State Performance Assessment

The Indian Springs Concert and Chamber Choirs, directed by Dr. Lee Wright and accompanied by Dr. Hye-Sook Jung, participated in the 2023 Alabama Vocal Association State Choral Performance Assessment (District III) on March 15.

Of the 43 participating choirs representing 23 Birmingham-area middle schools and high schools, Indian Springs’ chamber choir received the highest score, 97 percent overall. The concert choir was in a close second, scoring 94 percent overall.

The assessment evaluates choirs based on the public performance from memory of two repertoire selections for three judges and closed-setting sight-reading for one judge.
