Vickie Kim ’23 Places Third in Hyatt Piano Competition

Indian Springs student Vickie Kim ’23 won third place in the Hyatt Piano Competition at the University of Montevallo. Vickie was honored with a certificate and a $250 award.

Named after University of Montevallo alum and pianist Alice Aldora “Slim” Hyatt, the Hyatt Piano Competition is open to students in grades 9 through 12. Pianists select two to three compositions from at least two contrasting periods of music: baroque, classical, romantic, impressionistic, or contemporary. Performance times must be under 20 minutes, and memorization is required for all pieces. Winners are eligible for additional scholarships should they choose to attend the University of Montevallo through the Hyatt Endowed Scholarship Trust established in 2014.

Congratulations to Vickie!
