Varsity Volleyball Team Wins Area Title

The Indian Springs Varsity Volleyball Team defeated Tarrant and Childersburg in three straight sets to claim the AHSAA Class 3A Area 7 Championship on October 13. Kennedy Doyle ’25 and Rezi Ubogu ’23 were named co-MVPs of the tournament. Kennedy, Rezi, and Julia Butrus ’25 were named to the All-Tournament Team.

The team’s season came to an end at the Super Regionals in Montgomery in a close game with Straughn High School. They finished the season with an overall record of 14-8.

“I am sure I can speak for the team and coaches in saying thank you for all your support this season,” says longtime varsity head coach Chris Tetzlaff. “Advancing to the Super Regional tournament is a great accomplishment, and I am very proud of this team.”

The JV volleyball team finished their season earlier this month with a 8-5 record. The team was led this year by first-time head coach (and French teacher) Jean Bassene, a former member of the Senegal national volleyball team. Coach Bassene was proud of the players for learning to play together and push themselves, as some of the players had never played volleyball before.

“We had a really good group this year,” said Coach Bassene, “I was very proud to be their coach.”

Congratulations to all of our volleyball players, coaches Chris Tetzlaff, Tessa Magnuson, Jean Bassene, and athletic trainer Brad Skiff on a great season!
