Emma Peng ’22 Awarded National Merit Scholarship

Recent Indian Springs graduate Emma Peng ’22 has been selected to receive a college-sponsored National Merit Scholarship by her college of choice, Emory University. She will receive $2,000 yearly for four years of attendance.

College-sponsored Merit Scholarship winners are a part of the distinguished group of about 7,500 high school seniors who will receive National Merit Scholarships for undergraduate college study worth nearly $28 million.

Emma was among the more than 2,600 National Merit finalists chosen to receive scholarships financed by 155 higher education institutions in 42 states. She was one of eight Indian Springs members of the Class of 2022 named National Merit Finalists.

During her time at Indian Springs, Emma was a student ambassador and peer mentor. She was a member of the scholars’ bowl, Latin club, choir, and part of every major production of Indian Springs Theatre. As an accomplished keyboardist, she was selected for the Alabama All-State Jazz Gold Band. Emma also volunteered her time at the McWane Science Center, Birmingham Zoo, and Samford University’s music camp.

Congratulations, Emma!
