Meet Our New Faculty and Staff

Indian Springs is excited to welcome an exceptional group of new faculty and staff for the 2021-2022 school year.

New Faculty
  • Jean Bassene will teach French in the Modern and Classical Languages Department and live on campus serving as dorm faculty. Jean holds a B.A. in video animation and languages and an M.A. in multimedia and audiovisual management from the International IT Academy of Dakar in Senegal. He has been teaching language and arts for three years at the Laboratory Charter School in Philadelphia. He is also a freelance graphic designer.
  • Sabrina Cuandra will teach AP U.S. History while Dr. Colin Davis is on sabbatical. Sabrina is currently completing her M.S. in secondary education at Samford University. She has B.A. in political science from Auburn University. She previously worked as a student-teacher at Hewitt-Trussville Middle School and as a summer camp counselor.
  • Pedro Mayor will teach Spanish in the Modern and Classical Languages Department. Pedro holds a B.A. in music composition from Huntington College and an M.M. in jazz performance from the Manhattan School of Music. He taught music at Huntington College.
  • Dr. Jeffrey Sides will join the Science Department as a biology teacher. Jeffrey is an alum of Indian Springs and the parent of current student Erin Sides ’24. He earned a B.S. in ecology, evolution, and organismal biology at Tulane University and an M.S. and Ph.D. in aquatic biology from the University of Alabama. He has worked as a scientist and lab manager at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Department of Microbiology for 15 years. 
New Staff
  • Taylor Docking will lead Indian Springs’ admissions department as the new director of enrollment management. Taylor most recently served as the associate dean of upper school admissions and director of international enrollment at Cranbrook Kingswood School in Michigan. He holds a B.A. in humanities from Washington University and an M.S. in public policy from the University of Chicago. He will live on campus and serve as dorm faculty.
  • Tristan Hendrix will join the grounds crew as caretaker of the Fertile Minds Learning Garden. Tristan holds a B.S. in agribusiness from Mississippi State University and most recently worked as an instructor at McDowell Environmental Center and Farm School.
  • Hunter Wolfe will serve as the dean of students for the 8th, 9th, and 10th grades and teach classes in economics. Hunter has worked at John Carroll High School as the assistant principal and the head soccer coach and Montgomery Catholic Preparatory School as a history teacher and soccer coach. He holds a B.A. in global leadership from Huntington College and an M.A. in social science education from Auburn University at Montgomery.
New Roles
  • Hallie Barrett will direct Indian Springs’ residential life program.
  • William Blackerby will return to teaching Latin full-time.
  • Weslie Wald will serve as the dean of students for the 11th and 12th grades.
