Three Seniors Sign to Play College Sports

Three Indian Springs seniors have signed to play sports in college.

Kome Ubogu ’21 has signed to play Divison I soccer at the University of Virginia, where he plans to major in biology. Kome has been playing soccer competitively since he was four years old. He has played for the Birmingham United Soccer Association and the Alabama State Olympic Development Program during his high school years. He was a member of the U.S. Youth Soccer Region III Boys Team, which toured internationally in Portugal and Spain. He has played a total of 127 games and has scored 123 goals and 63 assists.
 
Virginia Hunt ’21 has signed to play Division III soccer at Whitman College, where she plans to major in biology. Virginia has been playing soccer since the age of three. During her high school years, she has played for the Vestavia Hills Soccer Club and Hoover-Vestavia. Her club teams have won the state cup five times, attended regional championships four times, and qualified for the U.S. National Club Championship twice. Since her ninth-grade year, Virginia has also played for Indian Springs and has scored 78 total goals for Indian Springs.

Wes Simpson ’21 has signed to play Division III baseball at New York University, where he plans to major in computer engineering. Wes has been playing baseball since he was five years old. He has played for Indian Springs since his ninth-grade year. He has been named to 12 Perfect Game All-Tournament Teams and two Top Prospect Showcase Teams. This year he was also named to the Perfect Game Preseason All-American Team.

These seniors were recognized in a special ceremony on April 26, 2021.
