Welcoming Students Back to Campus

On the first day of school, Indian Springs welcomed students back on campus and online for orientation and a schoolwide discussion of the year’s theme of Inclusion

Students and faculty tuned in via Zoom for welcome addresses by Head of School Scott Schamberger and Mayor Paul Weir ’21, followed by a reflection from Glennon Threatt ’74 on his experience as one of the first Black students at Indian Springs. Faculty and staff then guided small group discussions on Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, the history of Indian Springs, and the all-school summer reading.

Students spent the remainder of the day eating lunch in our socially distanced shade gardens, attending class for a welcome from each teacher, and reuniting with old friends while meeting new classmates.

Now that classes have started, our hybrid learning model is in full swing to give students a personalized approach to school that best fits their needs and safety. Daily temperature checks are required for all on-campus participants, and the Dining Hall serves several grab-and-go options to accommodate the school’s safety protocol. Meanwhile, our students participating at a distance are tuning in for synchronous and asynchronous learning at home and around the world.

We are excited to have everyone back and look forward to a safe and fun year of Learning through Living!
