Indian Springs Announces Seventh Head of School

Indian Springs School announces the appointment of Scott Schamberger, Assistant Headmaster for Admission and College Counseling from Woodberry Forest School, Woodberry Forest, Virginia, as Indian Springs School’s seventh Head of School. He will begin his term on July 1, 2020. Schamberger’s appointment comes as the culmination of a seven-month national search.

Schamberger was selected by the school’s Search Committee and unanimously approved by the Board of Governors on Friday, October 25, 2019. Board Chairman Alan Engel said, “Scott’s near-20-year track record of leadership roles in independent schools and higher education makes him an excellent fit for Indian Springs. His values and experience will no doubt lend themselves towards advancing our mission of encouraging our students to embody the school’s motto of Learning through Living.”

A graduate of Emory University, Schamberger also holds an M.Ed. in education from the University of Georgia and is currently pursuing a Ph.D. in Educational Policy Studies from Georgia State University. His current role at Woodberry Forest School, a boarding school in Virginia, includes oversight of admission, enrollment management, and college counseling. Additionally, Schamberger is the current board president of the Association of Independent School Admission Professionals, AISAP, a national organization dedicated to advancing and supporting best practices in admission and enrollment management at independent schools. Schamberger said, “I am honored and humbled to serve as the next Head of School at Indian Springs. Truly unique in the educational landscape across the country, I have long seen Springs as a beacon of excellence. My family and I are thrilled to join the Indian Springs community and look forward to fully investing ourselves in the life of the school.” Prior to Woodberry Forest, Schamberger held leadership positions at Randolph School in Huntsville, Alabama and Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. He and his wife Tracy have two children.
