Springs Defeats Altamont in 2nd Annual Alumni/Faculty Trivia Challenge

Springs wins . . . again! The second installment of the Indian Springs vs. Altamont “Battle of the Brains” trivia contest/fundraiser did not disappoint. Seventy-seven tickets were sold, and a crowd of at least 80 alumni from both schools showed up at the Cahaba Brewery on Thursday, Feb. 22, to cheer.

The trivia questions often elicited blank stares, head scratching, and intense perspiration. In the end, however, the Springs team took home the championship belt. Kevin Tavakoli and Keir Cooper, members of the Class of ’98, Springs math teacher Mac LaCasse, Joshua Rutsky ’89, and Springs social studies teacher Bob Cooper eked out a victory over their Altamont counterparts—Chris Nicholson ’99, Michael Rediker ’99, Arthur Crenshaw ’99, Hunter Albany ’99, and Jamie Rediker ’00—by a mere two points.

“It’s always exciting to win. I like to win, and it was fun to repeat,” said the magnanimous Bob Cooper, adding, “It was a very close match this time around, but we pulled it out.”

Eighty percent of the funds raised at the event were split evenly between the two schools’ alumni associations, with the remaining 20 percent going to the winning team’s school.

Thanks to all who helped make this event a success.
