Levine ’27, Mehra ’27, and Kurra ’27 Excel in Eighth-Grade Spelling Bee

Indian Springs’ English department hosted its annual eighth-grade spelling bee on Thursday, December 1, moderated by James Griffin, department chair, and assisted by faculty members Neil Barrett and Dr. Renee Chow. The top three competitors were: 

First Place: Violet Levine ’27
Second Place: Ashna Mehra ’27
Third Place: Sriven Kurra ’27

During the championship round, students were asked to spell two consecutive words correctly. Violet spelled "heliotrope" and "inundate” for the win. 

All three students were awarded a certificate and ribbon. In addition, Violet and Ashna received a year’s subscription to Encyclopædia Britannica. 

Violet will advance to the Shelby County Spelling Bee.
