Meet Springs' New Faculty and Staff

Indian Springs is delighted to welcome an exceptional group of new faculty and staff to the Springs community for the second semester of the 2018–19 school year:

New Faculty
Lisa McLeod Balazs, M.Ed., returns to the Science Department to teach a seminar on climate change. She holds a B.S. in Geology from Duke University and an M.Ed. in Curriculum Development from the University of Massachusetts, Boston. In addition to 12 and a half years of teaching and coaching at Springs, Lisa has also taught science and math in Massachusetts and worked for NASA’s education office at the Goddard Space Flight Center in Maryland.

Emanual Ellinas joins us to teach Contemporary Music Ensemble and Recording Sciences. As a musician, he has played with some of the greats from Taj Mahal to the industrial supergroup Pigface, as well as touring in support of the White Stripes. As an audio engineer, he has worked with bands ranging from local favorites St. Paul and the Broken Bones and the Black Jacket Symphony to Delta Rae, Spaceface, and the Secret Sisters. As a designer, Emanual founded the guitar effects manufacturing company Sitori Sonics and has several notable clients.

Ronald Fullove, II LAT, ATC, joins the Physical Education Department to teach Introduction to Athletic Training, Advanced Sports Medicine, and 8th Grade P.E. He will also take on the role of Athletic Trainer for the Athletic Department. Before coming to Springs, Ronald was an Athletic Trainer for the basketball and baseball teams at Miles College and served as an Event Safety Manager/Incident Commander for the Warrior Dash 5K obstacle course races via Joffe Emergency Services.

Mateusz “Matty” Rudak, who joined us during the fall semester, will continue to serve as Head Coach for Men’s Varsity Basketball, Assistant Coach for Men’s Varsity Soccer, and Head Coach for Men’s Junior Varsity Soccer. Matty holds a degree in Business Administration from Birmingham Southern College, where he was a member of the 2016 Southern Athletic Association championship basketball team. Before coming to Springs, Matty coached at George Washington Carver High School and John Carroll Catholic High School. He and his wife, Ansley, also live on campus and serve as members of the Dorm Faculty.

New Staff
Dr. Bob Cooper has been teaching history here at Springs since 1974 and this year will serve in the newly created role of Dean of Faculty. Recognized for teaching excellence by the Presidential Scholars Program. He received his B.A. in history from Queens College (CUNY) and his M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina, both in British History. As Dean of Faculty, Cooper is responsible for assisting the Head of School in assembling and developing a superb faculty, and for serving as a liaison between the faculty and the administration.

Michael Kitchens has joined our Custodial Department and works evening shifts.
