Springs Students Earn High Marks at Regional Science Fair

Twenty-nine Indian Springs School students received awards at the 2017 Central Alabama Regional Science and Engineering Fair hosted Saturday by the UAB Center for Community Outreach Development (CORD). Eleven student projects will advance to the state fair April 6-7 at the University of Alabama in Huntsville, and two juniors, Ken Jiao ’18 and Danielle Wu ’18, were selected to advance as well to the prestigious Intel International Science and Engineering Fair (ISEF) May 14-19 in Los Angeles.

“We’re so proud of our students and their outstanding projects,” says Indian Springs School Science Department Chair Dr. Tanya Hyatt. “In every category that they entered, they came away with at least one award. That is a terrific showing. This is also the first time that Springs students have won two of the four prestigious INTEL awards that are presented at the end of each regional fair. This is a huge deal, and such an honor for Ken, Danielle, and Indian Springs School."
