Zhang Places 5th in International French Contest

ISS sophomore Alice Zhang ’18 placed 5th Saturday in the final round of the international 2015 CCTV French Contest hosted by CCTV-Français!

Zhang, who traveled to Beijing for the televised finals, advanced to the second round of the finals Friday after delivering prepared remarks about fencing. The second round included a game of charades with a jury member; trivia on China, Quebec, and French-speaking countries; a debate with fellow finalists; and a 30-second impromptu speech.

“It was a great experience,” says Zhang. “The contest was about mastering the French language but even more about celebrating the spirit of French culture. I met a lot of amazing people and am so glad I was able to be a part of it.”

Félicitations, Alice!
